WELCOME to what you've thought was impossible (until now)!

I've had a "wild hair" for quite a while to start a blog offering ideas on how to preserve and display your favorite memories using fun and easy methods and materials.
To qualify myself, I have a lot of years experience preserving histories, memories, photos, art and needlework since the early 1980's. I am also an amateur photographer, just like everyone. I embarked on my hobby/life's work before the "scrap-booking" methods that have been adopted today (which require hours per page and time impossible to nab, resulting in many busy persons abandoning the notion of ever being able to organize their pictures, mementos, etc. because of the personal investment required) began. 
I'm here to say that it's okay NOT TO buy into that mind-set/methodology.  Everyone can and should preserve theirs and their family's histories and memories - AND there are other ways to do that than what you may see others doing, showing, or telling you.
Good grief - if I'd jumped on the "scrap-booking train" of today, marketed by industrious souls - I would have NOTHING preserved for my posterity.  For one, I wouldn't have been able to afford to do so, and I would only be a fraction of where I am today.  Yikes!  With 4 children, you can see that that would have been a next to impossible feat.
(Side note - Those of you who do enjoy "scrap-booking" in the style of today's methods: one page per photo with the use of multiple papers, cut-outs (needing expensive machinery), and specially made books to put the unusual sized pages in - then maybe I can convert you, maybe not.  My postings will be for those people who want an alternate way to preserve, a more realistic way to preserve, an results to show for your time and effort.
Tune in often for methods, ideas, web-sites, pictures, and a whole lot of fun ways to make your memories live and last, and I'm NOT just talking about scrap-booking.

It is possible - it is FUN - I don't sell anything, I just point you in the direction to find the materials and resources that I've been using all these years.

    Cindy, You are so totally inspired. I was just thinking as I drove home today, I want to get all these pictures, memories organized. I am so way behind. I got "caught" in the scrapbooking bustle. I don't know anyway to simply preserve memories. What a great way to start the new year! I am all ears baby! Thank-you my friend! Theresa

PICTURE BOOKS PRESERVE I have had a lot of fun creating family picture books using the website ARTSCOW.COM (thanks to my daughterinlaw Season!) I know there are a lot of sites & stores that you can get your pictures put into a bound book format, however, I have found artscow.com very reasonable (when you take advantage of their often offered discounts &/or free shipping).  The quality is also the best. One of the Best Ideas (Someone Else Gave Me)

YOUR CREATIONS PRESERVE This history is one of my VERY FAVES! It is a preservation of everything you've ever made. WHAT DO YOU MEAN? You query... Do you craft, sew, sculpt, paint, draw, build, photograph, needlework,decorate... DO YOU CREATE in any way, shape of form? I'll bet you do! Have you ever thought of documenting the items that you've created by photographing them? Do you have something to show for all the time, effort and talent that you've put into all those projects...all those many gifts you've made and given away all these years? A X-Stitched Heirloom Preserve of a Birth Announcement

So, during the six years that my children were born - I really liked to cross-stitch.  Therefore, I cross-stitched a sampler for each one, complete with: name, birth date, pound-age, etc. (Some of the info. was covered up to necessitate quick frame-age), but, nonetheless, you get the picture. Of course I didn't create the patterns for each of the samplers, I merely purchased cross-stitch books with the patterns already inside.  I just chose a pattern that I particularly liked, and that I thought fit my child.  As the youngest ones were born, I got more creative - I think anyway... They are a long-lasting, time consuming labor of love that you will be able to give to your child "someday". A creative heirloom for them to take with them, whether they want to or not...:) It will always remind them that you were spending a lot of time thinking about them when they were tiny and putting those thoughts into action.
